The EDUSAT network which paved way for KITE VICTERS, was inaugurated by H.E. A P J Abdul Kalam the President of India on 28th July, 2005 in Thiruvananthapuram. Initially set-up on rental space of CDIT in Gorkhy Bhavan, the own studio and uplinking station of KITE VICTERS at the premises of erstwhile IT@School Project, now KITE was inaugurated on 10th February 2009 by Hon. Chairman of ISRO, Padmasree Dr.Madhavan Nair in a function presided over by the then Hon.Minister for Education, Shri.M.A.Baby.
In the initial phase, KITE VICTERS also had an interactive mode which was used for video conferencing and other such educational training purposes, which is facilitated through Satellite Interactive Terminals (SITs). At that time, this facility was used by various departments to conduct virtual review meetings and interactions. The main users of the facility under Thiruvananthapuram Hub were KITE, Directorate of Collegiate Education, Directorate of Technical Education, CDAC, SSA, Directorate of IT Lakshadweep & CIMR. At present, the non-interactive mode of transmission is being used.
